DZTPS members are advised by the Board of Members to price their translation work according to indicative translation rates.
TRANSLATION OF A PROFESSIONAL TEXT (gross translation fee):

Translation of a particularly demanding text: In agreement with the customer, the translator may charge a surcharge of up to 20% of the basic rate for particularly demanding texts.
These rates apply to one page of the original document (1,500 characters without spaces). If the original text exceeds 750 characters without spaces, it counts as a full page; below that, it counts as half a page. If an original document is not in electronic form, or cannot be processed electronically for character counting, the fee shall be calculated based on the total number of characters in the translation. Translation fees may also be based on the number of characters in the translation where so agreed between the customer and the translator.
Recommended gross rates for professional consecutive interpreting:
- EUR 100 for up to 1 hour (60 minutes).
- EUR 240 for up to 3 hours (180 minutes).
- EUR 70 for each additional hour (60 minutes).
Important notice to members who are liable for VAT: Under current legislation, members must charge VAT on their gross translation fees.
Additional clarifications
A particularly demanding text is a specialised text requiring knowledge of complex terminology or one that is difficult to understand.
Translation intended for publication requires additional editing, which is charged on top of the translation fee. A translation may also be edited at the customer’s request. Editing fees range from 15% to 50% of the basic translation fee, depending on complexity.
An urgency surcharge of 50% may be charged when a translator’s daily output is increased by 30% above standard, and 100% for very urgent translations requiring a daily output up to 60% above standard.
The standard translation workload is six (6) pages per day for translations into Slovenian and five (5) pages per day for translations into a foreign language.
An urgency surcharge may only be applied with the customer’s consent.
If the text to be translated is not submitted in an appropriate electronic format, a conversion fee amounting to 10% of the basic translation rate may be charged.
Any additional activities performed in relation to the translation are charged according to the actual time spent.
